When I saw this family I told them that they looked so cool and asked them where they’re from? They’re visiting from Boston so I told them we have a temple on Common wealth avenue.
I told the father that he looks smart at least smarter than me! The wife (not in the picture) told me that she loves to meditate and clear her mind from the stress of work. So I showed them our set and explained that these are books from India that speak about the ultimate object of love and how to reawaken our eternal loving relationship with Krishna. The father told me that he’s on a tight budget but I told him that getting these books would be a great blessing for his entire family.

Some born again Christian fanatics were yelling around the Harinam and making it really difficult to talk to people. It was really loud.
This nice guy walked past me so I stopped him and told him he looks like a spiritual guy. I showed him our set, with all the commotion around, I tried to explain how these are important books meant to uplift the consciousness with eternal spiritual knowledge. I asked him to please take the books and give a donation (I said people usually give between $60 and $40). Right away he took out his wallet out and gave me a $50 bill. Krishna was reciprocating with our effort to keep going even though the Christians were very aggressive and constantly yelling.

Tourist couple from South Africa.
I told them that I love people from Johannesburg because they’re nice and always friendly.
It’s their first day in NYC so I thought that they definitely still have some Lakshmi and their bags are still empty so they will have room for Prabhupada’s books!
I showed them our set and told them that these are rare books of ancient spiritual knowledge from India. I prayed to lord Chaitanya to empower me to distribute this set. Then the wife told me her parents would be so happy with them both if they took the books. They told me that they can probably get all the books for much less in South Africa but they wanted to support us and because they liked me. I did make them laugh plus the wife really wanted the books so her husband gave a nice donation. He also gave me his email and told me to contact him if I visit South Africa.

Norbert from Hungary!
He came to the USA three years ago and started working in construction, he also plays drums in a rock band. He learned how to speak English from watching YouTube videos before coming to America! When he was in his country he was really struggling to make ends meet so he finally got a chance to leave and come to the USA.
He told me that he got Srila Prabhupada’s “Bhagavad Gita as it is” from some devotees in Hungary and he read it several times. He went to Krishna Janmastami festival recently here in NY temple.
He showed me a nice picture of Krishna that’s on his phone as his wallpaper. He really liked meeting the Harinam and sat down with some of his friends right next to the kirtan. I showed him our set and he wanted to get it right away. He gave such a nice generous donation that I also included the Lilamrita. I gave him some Tulsi neck beads as a gift.
I served him and his friend a full plate of prasadam with Kichari, halava, Jalebi and cookies. He was very happy to get the mercy.

It was difficult to distribute this set and it took a lot longer than most!
He’s a nice guy from Brooklyn when I saw him I said: “I love your fro my bro!” He smiled and stopped to talk to me. He told me he’s a little spiritual but he likes to read so I showed him our set and gave him my famous line: “This is spiritual knowledge you don’t get in college!” I explained how these are special books for smart guys like him and how Albert Einstein read the Vedas like Bhagavad Gita.
He was interested but insisted on going through each book individually.
He wanted to look at all the chapter titles, going back and forth asking me questions. I was really praying internally for him to get the mercy and told him how this is the best product that we’re offering him. It took some convincing but he took the set finally. I was happy for him that he accepted Krishna’s mercy in the form of Srila Prabhupada’s books.

Very nice lady from Gujarat.
She put a few dollars in the donation basket. Kalki prabhu spoke to her a little bit and then called me over. I told her that I’ve been to Baroda and that I love Gujarat because the people are very pious and friendly. She told me she celebrated Krishna Janmastami so I showed her our set then encouraged her to help us preserve the culture and this great Vedic knowledge by taking the books.

It was near the end of the Harinam and I really wanted to do another set. I saw this nice guy and he looked sincere. I told him he must be a smart guy at least smarter than me! He laughed and I showed him our set. He told me he likes to read and he showed me some pseudo spiritual book he’s been reading but I told him that the books in our set are very special. Martin Luther King Jr., Thoreau, Emerson and Gandhi have read the Bhagavad Gita to gain spiritual wisdom.
I told him we’re monks and we don’t sell the books like in the store we just ask for a donation to cover the printing and shipping costs. He told me he recently got engaged so I invited him and his fiancée to our Sunday feast program.

Nice family from Atlanta, Georgia.
They were walking by the Harinam and stopped to watch and take a video of the kirtan.
I started talking to them telling the wife how her baby is so cute and looks just like her. I showed them our set and the wife told me she already has a copy of the “Science of self realization” and how much she liked reading about Bhakti yoga. I told her: “Wow, that’s really great these books are all about devotion, the most important books from India. Please take the set it would be a great for you to learn more about the philosophy of Bhakti yoga.” She said sure and took the set.

Dr. Sindhu Hari Chand really pious Guyanese lady.
I was trying to talk to another lady in Spanish when she walked by, smiled at me and said “Jay Shri Krishna!” I finished speaking to the Spanish lady (who unfortunately didn’t take a book) and I went to talk with her right away. She told me she celebrated Krishna Janmastami last week in temple. I told her that I love Guyana and she can probably cook really tasty Roti and Dahl so she laughed! Apparently she works as a doctor in a hospital some days in Brooklyn and some days in Manhattan. When she told me that she’s a doctor, I told her that these books are the medicine to cure the disease of birth and death. Really good hearted person, I showed her our set and she wanted to support us so she took the books.

On the subway ride back to the ashram I was with Krishna prasad prabhu. We were bringing the Harinam cart back. This nice gentleman walked into the subway car and looked at us with a smile right away. He had a nice beads necklace on and I asked him if he meditates. He told me that he meditates regularly. I told him I could feel his positive energy and like attracts like. Then I told him that I got something special for him and showed him our “Saptarishi” set. He was very happy to see the books so I explained that we offer 7 books for the 7 chakras and many great personalities like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi got inspiration from this ancient knowledge. She was looking at a street book stand that has all kinds of used books. As soon as I saw her I had a feeling she would take a set so I waited for her to walk away from the stand and then went up to talk to her. I told her that I love her beads, she thanked me and told me they’re handmade beads from Nepal.
I asked her if she wears them for meditation, decoration or inspiration? She smiled and said for all of them. I showed her our set and said that these are ancient spiritual books from our temple. I asked him if they were brother and sister and he replied that she’s his mom! I asked her what’s her secret and she told me that she doesn’t eat meat, actually they’re both vegetarians for many years! They were on their way to a Crystal store near 14th street but they saw the Harinam first and just came up to the book table.
I explained to them about each book as I usually do, said how many great minds have studied these books and they help expand the consciousness.

She was sitting at the fountain next to the Harinam and listening to the kirtan. I told her that she looks so spiritual and very peaceful. Nice young lady from Guyana was in Union square park with a group who were making a student film there. She heard the kirtan and wanted to come see what was happening. She was so happy and ecstatic to see the Harinam party. She kept telling me how great it was that we are chanting Hare Krishna like this in the park. I showed her our set and asked her to please take the books it would be a blessing for her and her family. I told her that her mother and father would be so happy if she receives these wonderful books about Krishna from us. She very kindly gave a generous donation and took the set. I was on walking Harinam and talking to different people every time the kirtan would stop at a corner. I met these two nice people and I complimented the guy on his T-shirt.
I asked him if he’s into meditation and spirituality and he very enthusiastically said he was. I also asked him if he likes to read and he told me that he reads every free moment he has. He kept repeating that he really likes to read a lot so I showed him our set and told him these books will help him break the cycle of birth, death, old age and disease. He really wanted the set but he didn’t have enough to cover the full cost luckily I had met a few kind Indian people just before who offered a donation for sponsoring some books. Then I asked him if he’s really going to read them and he said he can’t wait so I gave him the set for a discount! Spread the mercy by all means.

I met Kevin from the Bronx this past Monday. He’s a really cool guy, totally spiritual and all about getting the knowledge. I showed him our set and he was interested but he had no money yet because he was waiting for his paycheck to arrive in the mail. I asked him for his phone number and told him that I’ll text him when I’ll be in Union square park again. So today he dropped by to see me. He’s an honest hard working guy in construction and he was ready for the knowledge.
After getting the books he told me that it’s truly a treasure chest of wisdom. He expressed how happy he was to receive the set. I sat him down and we honored some Kichari prasadam together and he got a few cookies as well. He wants to visit our ashram for the Sunday feast program.

A few weeks ago she met Gopal Champu prabhu also in Times Square subway and received a “Prabhupada Lilamrita” set from him. She’s been chanting the “Hare Krishna” mantra regularly and visits the Bhakti center as well. Today she was with her husband who’s from Nepal.
I said Hare Krishna to them and wished them a happy upcoming Krishna Janmastami. I showed the husband our Sapta set but he thought it would be too many books for him so I showed him the “Ramayana” and asked if they wanted to offer a donation. I came out early to Times Square subway to set up the Harinam and I brought a set with me and put it on top of the book table. This nice gentleman walked by and looked at the books. He had two books in his hand and obviously likes to read. He offered a small donation in the basket so I started speaking with him. He’s very interested in reading about philosophy and understanding the truths of life. I showed him our set and explained about each book and he was so enthusiastic and grateful to receive the set. He was on his way to work and told me that it made his day to meet me and get the books.

He’s friends with Gauravani prabhu and was there for his recent initiation ceremony. He loves his kirtan and likes to go to the Thursday night Bhakti center kirtans whenever he can. Really sweet guy so I showed him our set and told him to please give a donation and take the books. I explained to him how many pseudo spiritualist will cheat him but these books won’t cheat him 100% guarantee. After he got the set, he told me that he did Govardhana parikrama in Vrindavan with a tour organized by Rukmini mataji and loved it.

She's a veteran yoga teacher in the New York yoga community.
She's studied Ashtanga yoga at Ashtanga Yoga New York/Broome St. Temple, which is also a Ganesh temple owned by famous yoga teacher Eddie Stern. Lori teaches a Yoga class at Hunter University and regularly invites devotees frim the Bhakti center to speak Vaishnava philosophy for her students. She visited the Govardhan Eco Village for a month this past January to take Raghunath Cappo's yoga training seminar retreat.

Two really nice guys I ran into.
They both had amethyst crystals on! One had an amethyst ring and a jade necklace and the other had an amethyst necklace and quartz crystal in his pocket. They love collecting crystals. One of them told me he feels people are not connecting enough to the spiritual dimensions and are just keeping themselves in the dark. They were both very interested in reading about spiritual knowledge so they took a set.

Krishna works in mysterious ways.
I met this nice lady on the train on my way home. I looked over at her and she smiled so I went and asked her if she meditates. She answered: “yes, how did you know?” I told her that I could just tell from her energy that she’s a spiritual person. Suddenly it was her stop so I got off with her and explained about the books. She didn’t have any cash but she suggested that there’s an ATM machine right outside the subway station so I got out of the station to go with her. When we got outside she had a bag of clothes that she needed to return to a shop so I waited for her to do all that for about 20 minutes. Finally she came out so we went to the ATM and she got the set. She was very grateful for my patience and she told me that she’s actually a Christian but she’s learned that God can come to her in many different ways. I shared some realizations with her as well about Vedic culture and the different roles of men and women in Vedic society, all of which she appreciated very much.

He works at one of the bike stands in Columbus circle that rent bikes to tourists to ride in Central Park. A few weeks ago I showed him the books and he was really interested but he said he didn’t get paid yet. He gave me his phone number and told me I should text him when I’m here again because he gets paid on Mondays. He asked me to please remember because otherwise he would spend his money on useless things instead of getting some valuable spiritual knowledge! I kept in touch with him so I sent him a text this morning and told him that I’ll be there today and he said great bring the books.

They came up to the book table and put a $10 donation in the basket and walked away but I ran after them and gave them some prasadam cookies. They said that they’re happy to see us out here doing Harinam. One of them told me that she used to be a full time devotee but later got a job and kind of forgot about Krishna consciousness. I told her: “well Krishna never forgot about you, that’s how you ran into us here today. He wants you to remember him by taking these books and reading them!” She was happy to take the set and I also invited both of them to the Krishna Janmastami festival this Friday.

Rob has been coming to the Harinam in Union square park for several years now. He loves to dance to the kirtans and he loves prasadam. Over time he’s gotten practically all of Srila Prabhupada’s books from us. He has a “Saptarishi” set, “Srimad bhagavatam”, “Prabhupada Lilamrita” and all the other books small, medium and big! He bought a special book rack to put all of Srila Prabhupada’s books in his apartment.

This nice gentleman really likes to work out. I asked him if he works out a lot or eats a lot? He laughed and said he does both! He was on his way to teach a class so I told him that means he must have some knowledge. I asked him if he likes spiritual knowledge and he said yes so I showed him our set. He likes reading a lot so I told him that these are the seven most important spiritual books in the whole world meant to expand and elevate his consciousness. I asked him to please read them, apply the teachings in his life and then eventually teach others as well. He was a sincere person and was quite interested in receiving spiritual guidance.

Ricky, he’s a hotel sales associates. Nice guy I just showed him our set and explained about the books to him. He told me that I’m a really good salesman and I should get into doing sales professionally. I told him I used to be a car salesman but now I’m a salesman for God!

Really humble mother and son from Brazil.
She’s been to the temple in Brazil many times and loves the devotees and of course prasadam. I asked her if she’s ever received one of Srila Prabhupada’s books but she said no she never got a book. I showed her our set and told her: “You must have the books, please here take a look at our complete set. You deserve these wonderful books. Your son will read these and become an example in society otherwise he will get the wrong knowledge and who knows what will happen.”
