Suddenly the wife became anxious and told us: “oh sorry we have to go, we need to go!”
We then decided to be a little strong for their own benefit and said: “you know God came to him in his hands in the form of His books. Please you should be helping him in his spiritual journey. This human form of life is very rare. Please take them you will both be happy and you will also have happy kids in the future!” It worked the wife felt guilty and apologized for wanting to take him away. They ended up giving a nice donation.

We spoke to him about the “Bhagavad Gita as it is” and it turns out he’s already purchased a copy from devotees before. So we said please take this “Prabhupada Lilamrita” set it’s about the life of the guru who wrote the “Bhagavad Gita as it is.” It was very nice weather outside, he was in a cheerful mood and he gave another donation and took the set.

Super nice Asian lady.
We said: “Wow your energy is so spiritual, it must be because of your meditation.” She was happy with the compliment and told us that she’s very much into Buddhism and wants to learn about Hinduism as well.
She was with another lady friend who had gotten some books from us a few months ago. We told her please take this set it will improve your life. She didn’t have enough for the set but her friend lent her the rest of the money and she took the books home! A good friend indeed!

A very friendly person she was interested in getting some books. She’s been into meditation and has wanted to explore more about eastern philosophy. After we showed her our set she said she can’t take the books now but will come back another day.

Unbelievably 2 hours later she came back and took the set. Krishna’s in the heart and directing the wanderings of all living entities, how wonderful.

"OMG is that Kali - Ma?" - her reaction as she approached our book table and saw “the science of self realization” I said "it's Vishnu, her Master!" She then went on to explain to me that she likes to read about and understand other cultures. I asked how she started on her journey, she said, "I feel like we're living in a virtual reality, so I want to understand the actually reality. This whole culture in the west I feel it to be backwards like something is missing. I want to understand the spiritual aspects of life." She just returned from a trip to Thailand and was looking for more books to read.

This nice lady from South America is currently living in London. She was telling us that she loves to read and wants to start meditating again.

We also told her that the Bhagavad Gita was one of Albert Einstein’s favorite books on spiritual knowledge. She was eager to take the books and start going through them.

She knows the devotees and has been to several Hare Krishna temples.

We said: “let’s give you something you definitely don’t have. why don’t you take Srila Prabhupada’s biography? It’s the complete life story of a pure Mahatma Krishna bhakta. You have to take it.” She agreed and took it home with her. She was in a rush so we took a quick couple of pictures before she left.

Sruti from Nepal. Very humble pious lady who wanted to support our efforts to distribute Krishna consciousness in New York. She told me being around the kirtan gave her a nice feeling. She loved listening to him read it.

Little girl and her mom from Caracas, Venezuela. They visit the Iskcon temple there regularly. They came to New York for a visit and ran into the Harinam. The little daughter grabbed the books from my hand and told her mom she wants them all.

Very nice lady from Bangladesh. She shared with me how her Grandmother donated her house in their small village in Bangladesh so Iskcon could have a temple there! She had said she already has the books, but I told her how there's special mercy in distributing them. She agreed to give them away.

Realization:
Krishna's in control. Everyday going out with books you never know what will come your way. It's very important to remember that we're doing this service for the pleasure of Guru, Srila Prabhupada, and Krishna.
Any praise, honor, and adoration that comes we offer it up to Srila Prabhupada and our Spiritual Masters knowing that it's only by their mercy that their using us as their instruments.

Her name is Devi and she was in a very happy mood.
I was sitting at the book table and praying to Krishna to send someone to take a set. She’s been meditating since she was 3 years old because her mother was practicing seriously while she was growing up. Her mother even took her to a few Hindu and Buddhist temples.

She works as a server in a restaurant. She said she works hard for her money and doesn’t easily give it away but she felt that this was a real worthwhile cause to donate to. She actually bought the books as a birthday present for her son. She will also look at the books of course.
We showed her the address of the temple in Denver and it turns out she lives at the end of the same block and will go visit when she gets back.

She was telling me that her mother Rosie started taking her to Radha Govinda temple when she was younger and teaching her about Krishna consciousness philosophy.

Really cool New York couple. As we were going home back to the ashram we ran into them. When they saw us they chanted Hare Krishna. They said: “Although we don’t look like it we are good friends with many Hare Krishna devotees! We love the music and the philosophy.” It was perfect they were happy to take the set.
They’ve been going to the Bhakti center for quite some time and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere there.
The wife showed us the new deity of Durga she had just purchased from the nearby “Namaste” store on 14th street. We told her that Durga is a pure devotee and servant of Krishna.

Sweet kid. I stopped him and showed him a Bhagavata Gita he took it from my hand and said: “I heard of this book.” Then I brought him to the book table and showed him the “SaptaRishi” set. He held it and his eyes widened he said: “are these for me? I feel like I have to donate something.” I told him the price of the books and he gave more than what I asked for. At that point I told him: “you might as well take this ‘Prabhupada Lilamrta’, it’s the biography of the author of the books. By understanding the author of the books you’ll be able to enter into another dimension of appreciation of his writings.
He sat down with us for Ramaraya Prabhu’s kirtan and chanted for half an hour. He came up to me afterwards and thanked me. He said: “you Hare Krishnas are really awesome!” I gave him some prasadam cookies and we exchanged numbers 🙌🙏

Raphael walked by, I gave him an “On Chanting Hare Krishna” pamphlet and he almost left because he was in a hurry.
I said: “You look like a smart guy, do you like to read?” He told me that he loves to read about spiritual philosophy and he’s read the Bible, Koran and has a copy of the Bhagavad Gita.
I said: “great but this the original Bhagavad Gita!” Then I showed him the set and explained how the Srimad bhagavatam continues the story of the Gita. How the “Krishna book” is about the life and pastimes of the speaker of the Gita.
I just told him: “I really want you to have this set and I know you’ll like it.” He didn’t have enough cash but I said we take credit cards so he put the rest on his card. He was very enthusiastic and looks forward to reading Srila Prabhupada’s books.

Very nice lady with her 2 daughters. I came up to her and she was happy to see me. I asked if she met Hare Krishna devotees before. She said yes she did as a teenager and she received a “Bhagavad Gita as it is” from them! She loves it.

This rabbi said he was a devotee for some time many years ago. He lived in different temples and even met Srila Prabhupada. Seeds that fructify!
2 years ago Andrea bought a “Science of self realization” from me and today she came by the harinam and asked me, "what has kept you on this path these past couple of years?" I told her that there was a special type of happiness that comes when you do service to God, and unlike material happiness which is fleeting and temporary, the happiness in God's service is real and increasing.
I then asked her what's it been like for her since getting the book. She said, "I've had a ton of ups and downs, but I’ve been coming to this constant thought that I have to get more serious now." I appreciated her input and also added that seeing the positive effect these books have on people keeps me on this path.

I asked: “What kind of books do you have there?", she replied: "I just went to the bookstore and bought all these books on yoga and meditation, I've been contemplating for a while how to get started and today I thought I would get some books."

I asked her what sparked her interest. She replied "about a year ago I was doing an internship for some business classes I was taking, I went into the internship with a resolution that I would do my best and be happy with that and I felt a sort of bliss in that frame of mind." I told her that she was indeed beginning her spiritual journey and that having the correct knowledge from the beginning will make the trip a little smoother.

Very interesting fellow. He appreciated the message that we were sharing. He lives in the projects and was telling me that he feels like this is the knowledge people need to have. As he was walking by I waved and said hello, he looked back then he hugged me. I showed him the Bhagavad Gita, and to my surprise he said he already owned a copy 😲. So I showed him the Srimad Bhagavatam 1st canto and showed him how Buddha's incarnation was predicted in there:

"Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Añjanā, in the province of Gayā, just for the purpose of deluding those who are envious of the faithful theist." - SB 1.3.24

I also told him that our Guru Srila Prabhupada's mission was to come to cleanse the western countries of impersonalism and voidism.
When the time came to ask for a donation, I folded my hands and bowed my head down slightly. He happily gave some Lakshmi for the book!

Dwayne, super sweet guy. I stopped him and his girlfriend and told him: “wow you look like a spiritual person, I’m sure you meditate.”
He told me that he did. I asked him what kind and he explained that he focuses on the breath in order to attain a state of peace and tranquillity. I said yes that’s an ancient form of yoga. Many yogis control their breath and live very long lives. Then I showed him the Bhagavad Gita and told him that Nelson Mandela read it regularly. He said: “wow I love that, I want the book.” I said: “ok but wait I have a special set to show you.”
He told me: “I’m going to a game right now with my girlfriend and it’s raining outside but you know what, I’ll do it for the sake of the knowledge.” He gave a nice donation.

He stopped and said hello, I didn't recognize him, but he mentioned how he had gotten a “Science of self Realization” from us and was enjoying reading it. I told him that he qualified to go onto the Bhagavad Gita and I showed him verse 7.3

manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu
kaścid yatati siddhaye
yatatām api siddhānāṁ
kaścin māṁ vetti tattvataḥ

“Out of many thousands among men, one may endeavor for perfection, and of those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows Me in truth.”

I told him he was one of the rare souls that was trying to endeavor for perfection. Then I showed him the “Saptarishi” set and told him that for soul searching people such as himself this is the best set of books to get. He said he would put them in his home to share them with his family.
