“First off, I would to thank my teacher, Damodar, for introducing me to Bhakti π As I am fairly new, it has been a journey so far observing myself (my mind) changing in subtle ways. I love how Bhakti is inclusive to everyone. I started a japa practice about a year ago and that has been transformative. I can’t wait to see what comes through in my studies of these books. So I thank you again for reaching out to me!”

I was born into a Christian family in Georgia. I never felt in tune with Christianity and mostly had a fear based relationship with God and religion as a whole. As a young adult I let go of Christianity and studied various eastern philosophies and religions searching for truth. I practiced meditation and yoga asana. I eventually did a yoga teacher training where I was introduced to various Hindu, Sikh, and Buddhist mantras. I was also introduced to the Bhagavad Gita. Reading the Gita caused a huge shift within me, and truly changed the way I lived. Yet, I was not ready to accept Krishna, and continued to study Vedanta as an impersonalist. A little over a year later, I was about to become a parent. Bhakti was a concept that I couldn't stop thinking about. I wanted the personal relationship with the supreme. The lessons of the Bhagavad Gita came back to me. I almost immediately was then made aware of the Srimad Bhagavatam, and discovered the Wisdom of the Sages podcast in January of this year. I have listened and chanted Maha Mantra everyday since. I'm not completely open about my path with my parents and some of my relatives, but I make a point to show them our common values while I slowly let them know more about my spiritual beliefs and practices. Krishna has blessed me with my loving, supportive partner, Sage. Myself and so many others are blessed with the accessable teaching of the Bhagavatam from Kaustubha Das and Raghunath Cappo despite being far from a temple or a local sangha. I was also blessed with my own physical copies of the books of the Bhagavatam thanks to the NYC Harinam. Jai Shri Krishna!

Mahotsaha prabhu recalls:
I met Carly back on June 18th 2017 in Union square park during Harinam. At that time I distributed a “Beyond birth and death”, “Easy journey to other planets” and “Light of the Bhagavata” to her. She’s a really spiritual and positive person and she thanked me for the books. I recently messaged her on facebook after 3 years and she told me that she left her books in her parent’s home! She told me that she’s quarantined at her place in Maryland and she’s missing reading the books she got from me! I told her about the “Saptarishi” set that we’re offering and how now that she has the time for reading she would really like them. It turns out she’s been wanting to read some spiritual books especially now so she bought the set and I shipped the books out to here immediately!

Zeke shares how he came to Krishna Consciousness:
My path to bhakti might be a little different than most who came in from an extreme music scene. There's a lot of Krishna Conscious hardcore bands, but I didn’t even know about that until after I became involved. I inadvertently came to bhakti through black metal. I became vaguely acquainted with vedic concepts through a band called “Cult of Fire”, but never committed myself to them and continued to wander through Maya for several years. Eventually the darkness became overwhelming, and I summoned the courage to go to the closest "Hindu" temple there was, it was an ISKCON center just down the street from my house. I had virtually no idea who Krishna was when I first set foot in there but it filled my heart with a sense of peace I had never felt and I kept going back, following the literature, and chanting ever since!

Kerstin shares how she came to Krishna consciousness:To my story how I came to bhakti, well it took some time.. Years ago my cousin and I went to a yoga course with no idea what it is. For a while I just practiced the physical yoga part, but felt there has to be more. Also the New York kirtan music scene was involved and I heard more and more kirtans. To dive deeper I visited an ashram and there it opened my eyes and my heart. It's difficult to describe the feeling. I found what I've missed π My teacher recommended Srila Prabhupada and so the way started..
I'm also very thankful for all the kind people like the “wisdom of the sages” online podcast sangha by Raghunath and Kaustubha.

Mahotsaha prabhu recalls:
Really nice guy named Sam from Maryland. I had met him in New York a while ago while he was passing through town and he bought a few books from me! We had exchanged contact info and he recently sent me this message:
“Hare Krishna Maha! I don’t know if you recall but I had met you in New York in front of the subway while you and the Vaisnavas were chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra. I have a question for you. Where would one who lives in Maryland go to meet a guru? I do have a local Iskcon temple here by my house. However I’m not sure I would find one. Hopefully this message receives you well, Hare Krishna!”
Then I called him back and explained to him how rare and special the human form of life is and quoted verse 11. 20.17 from the Bhagavatam to him: “The human body, which can award all benefit in life, is automatically obtained by the laws of nature, although it is a very rare achievement. This human body can be compared to a perfectly constructed boat having the spiritual master as the captain and the instructions of the Personality of Godhead as favorable winds impelling it on its course. Considering all these advantages, a human being who does not utilize his human life to cross the ocean of material existence must be considered the killer of his own soul.” I also explained that in order to find Guru one must know the instructions of Krishna and the Srimad Bhagavatam is Krishna so he immediately ordered a set from me. He also told me that he’s been chanting Hare Krishna everyday since he received the set!

Really nice devotee named Paulina from San Diego, California. One of her devotee friends made a post on her social media profile (to help us in our online book distribution) letting people know that if they would like to order Srila Prabhupada’s books they could contact me and included my contact info! Then I received a message from Paulina saying that she just gave a donation online through our Harinam website and that she would like us to please send her a “Prabhupada Lilamrita” set to her home address! So of course I responded that we will ship it out to her immediately then she told me that she also would like to get a “Srimad Bhagavatam” set in a few months!

Shivananda prabhu is a disciple of Srila Prabhupada who’s now 74 years old and lives full time at the “Prabhupada village” in North Carolina. He and his wife have been full time pujaris ever since they joined the movement, never accepting any salary and fully depending on Krishna for their maintenance. Srila Prabhupada sent Shivananda prabhu to Germany in 1968 where he opened up the preaching in Germany when he was only 18 years old! He has about 30 letters that Srila Prabhupada addressed to him personally with different personal instructions. Srila Prabhupada addresses him as “My dear son Shivananda Das Brahmacari“ at least in one letter. Both he and his wife Madan Mohan Mohini mataji are very glorious long time devotees and books can be written about them and their preaching endeavors.
“My memories of Srila Prabhupada”
“On Speaking strongly in Srila Prabhupada’s service”
“Who’s supreme?”
Plus “Sri Chanakya Niti” by Patita Pavana das
