Very nice gentleman named Guru with his little daughter from Brooklyn! When I saw him walking by I said: “Hey man you’ve got really good energy!” And he stopped right away and we started talking about meditation, he mentioned that he’s into understanding more about eastern philosophy. He loves reading about it so when I showed him the books I explained that they contain the highest spiritual knowledge. I told him these are the road maps that show how to exit this material world and enter into the spiritual realm. He didn’t have any cash on him but I told him it’s ok we take credit cards and he said ok let’s do it, that’s when I found out his name is Guru and I said wow that’s amazing! I started telling him about Srila Prabhupada how he’s our Guru and how he started a spiritual revolution in the hearts of people on this planet by writing these wonderful spiritual books about Krishna. Before he left he sincerely told me he believes our meeting was by divine arrangement.

Nice 22 year old young professional named Michael from New Jersey working in midtown Manhattan.
I told him that I like his energy and asked him if he’s into meditation. He told me that he’s looking for some peace and love and he tries to meditate sometimes to clear his mind. He was saying that he’s really struggling to keep a positive outlook because working in New York can be a lot of pressure. I showed him our set and asked him if he knows how many Chakras we have and he said yes seven! I said wow and told him that’s why we offer 7 books to open up the 7 chakras! I started explaining how these books will help him understand how rare the human form of life is and what the goal of life actually is. I pointed to the Srimad Bhagavatam and told him that it will give him the eyes to distinguish reality from illusion. Then about the Gita I said how so many great minds like Gandhi, Emerson, Nelson Mandela read it for spiritual guidance. In the end I was telling him that these books are the epitome of all spiritual knowledge and he will benefit so much from reading them. He was hesitating because he thought it’s a lot of books but I told him not to worry he can read them all before he dies and since he’s a young guy he’s got plenty of time. Plus I said it’s our Guru’s birthday today (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura) and it would make him really happy if he bought the books!

Nice gentleman named Rob from Puerto Rico. When I stopped him I asked him if he meditates and if he knows how many chakras we have. He told me that he’s into meditation and he answered that we have 7 chakras correctly. I told him I could tell by his energy that he was a spiritual and knowledgeable person. He likes to read so I showed him our set and told him that it’s very rare to find people from Latin America who are very interested in Vedic wisdom and reading spiritual knowledge like him and he said he’s not your average man. He was telling me that ever since he’s been young he’s been looking at things from a different perspective and he always asked his parents questions about death, why we are in this world and what’s the meaning of life. He’s a sincere spiritual seeker and Krishna directed him to come get Srila Prabhupada’s books from us.

Really nice person named Anne from Brooklyn! She just graduated from SUNY purchase university and is in between jobs at the moment. She lives in the downtown area where the Harinam is set up. She walked by and looked over at the table and saw our “Books on spiritual knowledge” sign but kept on walking then she told me that she thought to herself: “I should go back to see what books they offer, I have a good feeling about it plus I’m not in a hurry!” And she came up to the book table. At first I showed her the Bhagavad Gita and she told me she’s heard of it before. She was holding a book in her hands called “The Ends of the world” about climate change and past earth extinctions. She said she really loves to read so I showed her our set. We talked about Karma, reincarnation and self realization and she was saying that she went to catholic school for 8 years when she was younger then transferred to a public High school afterwards. After changing schools she said she was discovering that a lot of what she learned in catholic school wasn’t completely correct and she always felt that there must be some deeper knowledge that’s beyond religion and I told her that’s correct this is that knowledge! She lives close to the Brooklyn Radha Govinda temple so I gave her the contact info of some devotees there and she’s looking forward to visit soon.

Very pious Indian gentleman named Aditya originally from Hyderabad now living in the States! I was praying to Krishna to distribute another Mahat tattva set and then I saw him walking by and I stopped him. He’s familiar with all of Srila Prabhupada’s books and was very favorable to getting them right away. He was coming out of work in the Wall Street area when I ran into him. It turns out that his father had actually met Srila Prabhupada in the 1970’s in India and the family has been Iskcon life members ever since then. Their family home in Hyderabad is right next to the Hyderabad Iskcon temple and they all visit regularly for darshan of Radha Madanmohan; they also have Gaura Nitai deities there as well Jagannath Baladeva and Subhadra.

Nice gentleman named Sunil Roy from Bengal. He was passing by and I said: “Hare Krishna prabhu!” He stopped and offered his Pranams to me by bowing his head down. He was telling me that he goes to a Hindu temple regularly with his mother and some other members of his family. He told me that his mother, just last week, picked up a copy of a Bengali “Bhagavad Gita as it is” from us in Queens and she’s been reading it every day! Then I asked him: “prabhu do you know what last week was?” He said he didn’t know and I told him it was Varaha Dvadasi, the appearance day of Lord Varaha one of the Dasavatara incarnations, and because of that we’re celebrating this whole week. Then I showed him our set and told him that we want him to take these wonderful books home with him. He told me that he was more than happy to get the set and that he felt so fortunate to get this opportunity so he gave a nice donation. He took down my phone number before leaving so that he can get more books from me in the next few weeks to distribute to his friends and family.

Nice devotee named Aparajita prabhu from Russia! He’s been working with the MTA as an electrical engineer for the past 30 years and he’s only one year away from his retirement and receiving his benefits and pension. After he retires he’s planning on going to India and do some long term devotional service there. He knows a lot of devotees who work for the MTA! He’s planning on visiting us for our Sunday feast program.
