Nice guy that I met while he was standing waiting for the elevator in the subway station. He told me that’s he’s into philosophy so I asked him if he likes to read. He told me he reads a lot during his free time because ever since he was young he never felt that he fit in with society in general or any specific group, so he spent most of his time educating himself by reading various books on all kinds of subjects. He told me that he looks around at all the people in this city and the world and often wonders where they’re all going and what are they really doing. I showed him our set and explained each book to him and mentioned that these books offer the highest spiritual knowledge. He was happy to take the set with him and gave a nice donation.

Nice young lady named Daysia from Brooklyn. She was walking by with a few friends, she had a book in her hand with the title “Blue Moon” and I thought of Lord Nityananda! I just waved at her and told her that she looks really spiritual so she stopped right away and said she’s a very spiritual person. She saw the set in my hands and asked me if I was giving the books away but I said no we’re not giving them away we ask people to give a donation. I started explaining to her what the books are about and how they offer the highest spiritual wisdom. She told me that she grew up as a Christian but quickly realized that there must be a deeper more powerful philosophical truth out there so she started reading about Buddhism and that got her started on doing some meditation. She’s very open to other cultures and beliefs so she was happy to get the set from me and she wants to visit the temple soon.

Kevin was walking by the Harinam and I noticed he was wearing a crystal on his necklace so I asked him if he wears it for meditation or decoration? He told me that he likes to wear it for meditation and for clearing his energies! I showed him our set and told him that we offer these 7 books for clearing the 7 Chakras! I explained how the books will help him break from the cycle of birth, death,old age and disease and how they offer the highest spiritual knowledge. He’s into spirituality, practices meditation regularly and loves reading about self realization. He lives in Harlem close to our ashram so I invited him to our Sunday feast program and he’s looking forward to visit us.

Humble retired gentleman named McKay originally from Trinidad now living in Queens! He came up to the book table and wanted to get a copy of the Bhagavad Gita for his wife. He told me that she specifically asked for Srila Prabhupada’s version! I showed it to him but then I also showed him the “Krishna book” and suggested it would be a nice gift for his wife as well. He said ok he wants both books so I showed him our “Sapta” set and told him since he’s taking two books he might as well take the complete set for his wife as a gift and it’s already all wrapped up with a nice ribbon. He smiled and said ok he will take it. He got one soft cover Gita for himself to read as well. Before he left I gave him some prasadam cookies for him and his wife.

This young lady from the Dominican Republic was speaking to Devarshi Narada prabhu at first then he called me over because she was very interested in the books and might even want to take a set. She’s really into spirituality and meditation and already has a copy of the “Bhagavad Gita as it is” that she’s been reading. I showed her the set and asked her if she knows how many Chakras we have and she answered seven correctly and I told her that’s perfect she qualifies to receive our set of seven amazing books. I told her that I can replace the Gita with another book since she has a copy already but she said it’s ok she would like a hard cover version of it. When I explained about our donation for the set she started negotiating with me like anything, trying to bring the price way down but I kept insisting that in any book store like Barnes & Noble she would have to pay so much more than what we’re asking. And finally she was convinced to get the set and that it was definitely a great deal.

Really nice gentleman named Lakshman originally from Trinidad now living in New Jersey! He was on his way home from working in the city when I stopped him. He told me that he works in finance. I explained to him that we’re monks who come out to chant Krishna’s names for 6 hours daily and give New Yorkers the opportunity to connect to Krishna by also distributing spiritual literature. I asked him if he wants to help us out by giving a donation to support our temple and our preaching work. He wanted a copy of the “Bhagavad Gita as it is” but I showed him our “Sapta” set instead and told him he might as well take this complete set home with him while he’s at it. He said: “it’s amazing work you guys are doing and I want to support you guys. Ok I’ll take all the books.” He gave nice donation and thanked me.

Nice lady from Brooklyn, I’m pretty sure she was drunk or on high on something! When I first stopped her I said: “OMG you look soooo spiritual” she turned around immediately and smiled. I told her that I have some very nice spiritual books to show her and she said great with a big smile. I told her how these books will give her the highest high she can ever experience and they will take away all ignorance from her consciousness. She told me she’s interested in getting the set but doesn’t have any cash on her so I said no problem we take credit card, Venmo, Cash app, Apple pay, PayPal. I saw she was still hesitating so I told her if she doesn’t spend her money on this valuable spiritual knowledge what else will she spend it on?! She smiled and took the set and paid me with her credit card.
