Kaliya Krishna prabhu recalls:
Doug just came up to the book table today and said “Hare Krishna.” He asked me if we had some Tulsi neck beads so I gave him one set plus some prasadam and he was very grateful. He immediately gave a generous donation so I offered him our “Sapta” set. He’s one of the original founding members of the Cromags with whom he played guitar and wrote songs.
He spent a lot of time volunteering with Adi Purusha prabhu and his food for life program in Tompkins square park as well as inspiring many souls to take up Krishna consciousness through his music.
More recently he’s been taking care of his mother who had dimensia for the past five years. She recently passed away and now he’s trying to focus more on his spiritual life and his progress in Krishna consciousness. He does yoga and workouts every day to keep in shape. He spent a few hours with the Harinam party today chanting in the kirtan. He had a really nice time with the devotees and was very thankful.

She was coming out of the Union square subway station and I just told her: ““I like your glasses they look like they’re for the classes!” She smiled and told me she liked that it’s a good line. She owns her own business which is called “Inner nest” where she makes different kinds of spiritually inspired T-shirts and various other products.
She was very inspired when I showed her our set and she was telling me how being spiritual is her business so I told her that it’s also my business!

Ateet from Bangalore. Really pious Indian gentleman in New York City on a business trip for a few days only.
He told me that he really likes and respects the Hare Krishna devotees and regularly visit Iskcon temples in Bombay and Bangalore with his family.
He told me that Iskcon is the only cause he doesn’t mind donating money to because he believes in Srila Prabhupada’s purity and message of Krishna consciousness to the world.
I showed him our set but he told me that he already has the entire collection since he’s a life member plus he’s leaving in three days and didn’t want to carry the books. Still he wanted to give a donation anyway so I suggested to him that we could ship a set to a friend of his as a gift on his behalf and he liked the idea. He was very humble and gave generously.

Really nice mother and daughter that I met at the Ratha Yatra festival. The mother was actually more spiritual than her daughter but they were both the sweetest people I met in Philly so far during my visit. I showed them our set and told them about the festival a little bit, they were so kind and generous that when I told them the set was $45 the mom gave me more. Just before leaving they both folded their palms and thanked me for giving them these special books. Especially the mom was very eager to start reading them and told me that she loves reading about spiritual self realization.

When I met these two nice people and showed them our set the girl really wanted to read the books. She told me that she loves reading spiritual type books but didn’t have money since she was a college student and struggling financially. After speaking to them and convincing them about the importance of spiritual realization her best friend happily took out his wallet and paid for the whole set! I guess he became inspired by the Supersoul to get her the books as a gift, she was also very happy and said she would share the books with him after she reads them! Win win!

We were doing walking Harinam in the streets of Philadelphia the day after Ratha Yatra festival.
I met this super nice lady who was just getting out of work. I said: “Hi sister I love your energy.” Then I showed her our set. She was telling me that she’s a spiritual person and likes reading about spirituality so I gave her my famous rap.
I said: “it’s the king of knowledge you don’t get in college. Help you distinguish reality from illusion and keep you out of delusion. It’s pure and sublime it’s also got the rhyme you just gotta have the time. Me a monk not a punk, I ain’t selling the books it’s just helping a brother out with a donation to help bring peace to this nation so you can have self realization!” She was happy to hear my rap and gave me a nice donation. Then I told her: “Wonder if the books are heavy as thunder, just don’t worry we got a bag for you to carry!”

Highlights from Philadelphia a few days before the Ratha Yatra festival! We went to Rittenhouse square and did Harinam and book distribution!

Nice group of friends who walked by the Harinam. I called them over to get some Prasadam cookies and they asked me what we are doing out here. I told them about the big Ratha yatra festival with kirtan music and a great free vegetarian feast! They were very nice and said that they love spirituality so I immediately told one of the girls about the books and showed her our set but she didn't have enough money. I told her to give $10 and to ask her friends to give the remaining balance and her friends happily pitched in to give the extra donation! It was sweet because they all did some devotional service and helped her get Srila Prabhupada’s books.
