She was just passing by me and I noticed that she was wearing japa beads around her wrist. I said Hare Krishna and she smiled.
She told me that she just recently moved to Brooklyn from Central New Jersey mainly because she was living in an abusive home life situation and needed to get away. She’s been to our temple in central New Jersey several times and really liked hearing the classes and meeting the devotees, that’s also where she got the japa mala. She told me that it was Krishna who gave her the courage and inspired her to move to Brooklyn. She was very humble and happy to see us chanting in public. When I showed her our set she wanted it right away and she gave me all the money she had on her as a donation.
