Igor from Israel.
He’s a really nice and soft hearted devotee. Whenever we’re at the Atlantic Avenue Brooklyn subway station he stops by the book table and gives us a donation usually a few dollars in cash and we offer him some prasadam cookies. Sometimes he takes a small book to give to a friend.
Today when I saw him I said: “Shalom prabhu!” He laughed and smiled then I told him that I want to show him something very special and I put the “Sapta” in his hands! He told me that he doesn’t have enough cash on him and he felt bad because he actually wanted the set but I just told him that we take credit card, PayPal and Venmo. He was so happy to hear that and he gave me his credit card right away. After he took the “Sapta” then I also showed him the “Prabhupada Lilamrita” and he said it would be great to send it to some of his devotee friends in Israel and he took it too. He gave us a very generous donation. Hare Krishna.

Sherryl, real nice lady from Brooklyn.
She works as an administrative supervisor in one of the local schools in the Atlantic avenue downtown Brooklyn area. She’s really into practicing yoga and recently started getting interested in learning about meditation. I showed her our set and told her that these books will teach her about the ultimate goal of life. Then I asked her if she knows what the ultimate goal of life is and she honestly said: “no I have no idea please you tell me what it is.”
I explained that the ultimate goal of life is to break the repetition of birth and death so that she can go back home back to Godhead and live an eternal life full of bliss and knowledge with Krishna! She really appreciated that and offered to give a donation for the set with her credit card plus she gave an extra tip for the musicians.

She was just passing by me and I noticed that she was wearing japa beads around her wrist. I said Hare Krishna and she smiled.
She told me that she just recently moved to Brooklyn from Central New Jersey mainly because she was living in an abusive home life situation and needed to get away. She’s been to our temple in central New Jersey several times and really liked hearing the classes and meeting the devotees, that’s also where she got the japa mala. She told me that it was Krishna who gave her the courage and inspired her to move to Brooklyn. She was very humble and happy to see us chanting in public. When I showed her our set she wanted it right away and she gave me all the money she had on her as a donation.

Kaliya Krishna prabhu recalls:
Doug just came up to the book table today and said “Hare Krishna.” He asked me if we had some Tulsi neck beads so I gave him one set plus some prasadam and he was very grateful. He immediately gave a generous donation so I offered him our “Sapta” set. He’s one of the original founding members of the Cromags with whom he played guitar and wrote songs.
He spent a lot of time volunteering with Adi Purusha prabhu and his food for life program in Tompkins square park as well as inspiring many souls to take up Krishna consciousness through his music.
More recently he’s been taking care of his mother who had dimensia for the past five years. She recently passed away and now he’s trying to focus more on his spiritual life and his progress in Krishna consciousness. He does yoga and workouts every day to keep in shape. He spent a few hours with the Harinam party today chanting in the kirtan. He had a really nice time with the devotees and was very thankful.

She was coming out of the Union square subway station and I just told her: ““I like your glasses they look like they’re for the classes!” She smiled and told me she liked that it’s a good line. She owns her own business which is called “Inner nest” where she makes different kinds of spiritually inspired T-shirts and various other products.
She was very inspired when I showed her our set and she was telling me how being spiritual is her business so I told her that it’s also my business!

Ateet from Bangalore. Really pious Indian gentleman in New York City on a business trip for a few days only.
He told me that he really likes and respects the Hare Krishna devotees and regularly visit Iskcon temples in Bombay and Bangalore with his family.
He told me that Iskcon is the only cause he doesn’t mind donating money to because he believes in Srila Prabhupada’s purity and message of Krishna consciousness to the world.
I showed him our set but he told me that he already has the entire collection since he’s a life member plus he’s leaving in three days and didn’t want to carry the books. Still he wanted to give a donation anyway so I suggested to him that we could ship a set to a friend of his as a gift on his behalf and he liked the idea. He was very humble and gave generously.

Highlights from Philadelphia! 

Krishna prasad prabhu recalls:
Really nice mother and daughter that I met at the Ratha Yatra festival. The mother was actually more spiritual than her daughter but they were both the sweetest people I met in Philly so far during my visit. I showed them our set and told them about the festival a little bit, they were so kind and generous that when I told them the set was $45 the mom gave me more. Just before leaving they both folded their palms and thanked me for giving them these special books. Especially the mom was very eager to start reading them and told me that she loves reading about spiritual self realization.
