She walked up to the Harinam. She looked so devotional and I could tell she was from South India. I asked her: “are you from Hyderabad?” and she said: "yes wow that’s a good guess!"
Her name is Lakshmi. I told her that’s a beautiful name because Lakshmi Devi is the eternal consort of Lord Narayana.
I asked her: “Do you chant Hare Krishna or go to a temple?” She said she didn’t at present but has been thinking about it more lately.
I told her: “please take these books they will help you reestablish your relationship with Krishna.” One of our devotees asked her if she knows about Lord Balaji the controller of the seven hills. She said of course and smiled.
We then told her: “it’s great if you take these seven books, it’s like taking Lord Balaji with you and getting His blessings!

We were walking around and this nice lady and her daughter just came up to us and asked: “Are you guys giving these books away or something?”

Really sweet person. She came up to the book table and was looking at all the books carefully. She showed me a copy of a Bhagavad Gita she’s reading and another book on yoga sutras. I showed her our “Bhagavad Gita as it is” and she said she has a copy at home and a copy of the “Science of self realization” as well. She’s getting certified as a yoga instructor and is spending a lot of time studying the philosophy behind yoga. Naturally I showed her our “saptarishi” set and explained a little about each book.
I told her of the importance of being a vegetarian for spiritual advancement. I gave her a flyer for our upcoming New York Ratha yatra 3 day festival and she asked me for more flyers so she could give them out to her fellow yoga students. Very humble person she gave a really generous donation.

She was very emotional upon seeing the Harinam and started telling me. "I love Krishna, Krishna is my Lord, I can't give Him up." She went on to explain that she's recently retired from work and wants to start dedicating her time to devotional service. When she was a young girl in Guyana her family had converted to Christianity. They even baptized her and changed her name to Audrey. But she said that she never accepted it and always maintained her faith in Krishna.
She was happy to receive the books and wants to start chanting japa and attend the temple programs.

This is Michael a wonderful person who was happy to run into us.
“Hare Krishna, I used to go the temple on 55th street years ago! I was friends with a devotee named Trilokia and we used to be close. I could’ve joined back then but it was too much for me to wake up at 3am and follow the morning service properly!”
He told us that he has practically all of Srila Prabhupada’s books at his apartment but we showed him the Lilamrita and he wanted it. He also asked us if we had any Japa beads for sale. We didn’t have any on us but we got his phone number and will message him when we are in Union square park for him to meet us.

When we saw him we said: “hey you must be from Ethiopia!” He asked how did you know and we told him that a very close friend is from there and we knew about Ethiopian culture a little. He immediately opened up and was receptive.
He’s a lawyer and likes to read a lot.
At first we showed him the smaller set of 3 books but then we could see that he was very sincere and ready for the “Saptarishi” set. These are books about true spirituality and will really inspire you in your work as well.

Very nice girl I met next to Central Park. She’s a college student originally from Guyana but spent most of her life in New York. She grew up with her family going to temples of Krishna. She told me that her mother is very religious and devoted. She was in a good mood and pious. She was on her way home and at first didn’t want all the books just a “Bhagavad Gita.” Then I told her just give them as a gift to your mother who would really appreciate them. She agreed and happily took the set.
