Really nice gentleman named Siven who was attending a Sraddha ceremony for the mother of a real nice devotee named Prabhir who sponsored 108 Bhagavad Gitas on her behalf. The ceremony was held in a local Hindu temple in Queens today.
He was telling me how he’s seeing that his spiritual culture and tradition is getting lost and most people are becoming materialistic just after gaining material things and not concerned with true spirituality. He told me to look around the temple where all the kids present there are just running around playing and the parents aren’t giving them any training because they’re not reading the scriptures themselves or practicing seriously. He continued saying that God has to come first in our lives along with the scriptures as the center. When he saw that I had a Bengali Bhagavatam set available he made sure he got one from me, he was very excited and offered a generous donation.
