She came out of the subway and her face lit up when she saw the Harinam. I approached her and asked if she had seen us before. She said she hadn't but it was really attractive and she wanted to know more. I asked her how much she likes to read and she replied "I've been focusing on buying tons of books lately!" When I showed her the books she was excited to take them. Then she told me she will be back to get the “Prabhupada Lilamrta” on Saturday!

Desmond from California.
Really introspective guy, he was sitting by the fountain near the Harinam. I saw that he had some rings with Sanskrit writing and said "Those are really cool, what do they say?" He replied "I don't know, but the guy in the store told me they're for getting good vibes."
I then thought: “There are so many people out here actually searching for something meaningful, but unfortunately so many are being cheated." So I resolved myself and was determined to give him something useful.
I showed him the books and said: “these books speak about material problems and spiritual solutions. They explain to us how any material adjustments we try to make in our life will ultimately lead us to disappointment if we don't search after the soul." He was hesitant and said he had spent a lot of money today.
I told him that these books would without a doubt change his life, if he just took a little time to read them and apply the knowledge contained in them. Then he said, "you know what, I admire your determination and I can feel that you’re trying to give me something that's good for me. I've spent a lot of money on material things today that I don't really need. I'll take these books I'm sure it's the reason why I sat here."
He also said he will definitely come to our Sunday program!

Gopal Champu prabhu’s realization:

Sometimes when people say no it's because they don't "know" enough to make the right choice. I've realized that sometimes people give a little resistance, but if your convinced in your own mind that this person needs these books, a lot of the time people end up taking them.

New Shipment of Srila Prabhupada's books arrived today at the Yuga Dharma ashram. Total of 732 boxes, biggest order for North east USA since 1981.

As soon as I started setting up the book table today I met this nice couple from California. They were very relaxed compared to most New Yorkers we meet out here at Penn station. I said: “Here’s a gift for you! These books will guide you into deeper spiritual understanding. We’re monks and we just want people to help us with a donantion for the printing and shipping cost.”
They were so happy to take the set with them. Krishna’s mercy.

Nice people from New Jersey came up to the Harinam as we were packing up. They said that they had come to the city on a mission to find meditation beads. I said "you guys are really determined, what got you interested in meditation?" He said,"as time goes by I've started to have these questions come up, where do I belong? What is this life actually all about? A friend of mine told me that meditation on beads would help." I taught them the Maha Mantra and explained to them that this Mantra is a call out to God, to be engaged in his service, and that real happiness is not in material things but in spiritual consciousness. The lady said "I'm feeling butterflies in my stomach." And the guy then said, "I can feel that you’re telling me the truth, where do I give a donation?"

These two nice guys from Brooklyn get a set sponsored by Bhakta John!
I was speaking with Bhakta John and he was telling me that today was his birthday! I said "Wow, you know the best way to give back is to sponsor a set today for some sincere souls." He said, "I'm 65 today I don't have much time left, better that I use this money for a good cause." I stopped these two friends by asking them "are you guys sincere?" They looked at me with a puzzled look and replied, "I think so, I'm Christian but I'm open minded. My friend also likes to read." Bhakta John then told them "please take these books as a gift, it's my birthday today. I promise you even though now these books might not mean anything to you if you read them you'll be blown away." Jay Sri Rama!
