We were doing walking Harinam in the streets of Philadelphia the day after Ratha Yatra festival.
I
met this super nice lady who was just getting out of work. I said: “Hi
sister I love your energy.” Then I showed her our set. She was telling me that she’s a spiritual person and likes reading about spirituality so I gave her my famous rap.
I
said: “it’s the king of knowledge you don’t get in college. Help you
distinguish reality from illusion and keep you out of delusion. It’s
pure and sublime it’s also got the rhyme you just gotta have the time.
Me a monk not a punk, I ain’t selling the books it’s just helping a
brother out with a donation to help bring peace to this nation so you
can have self realization!” She was happy to hear my rap and gave me a
nice donation. Then I told her: “Wonder if the books are heavy as
thunder, just don’t worry we got a bag for you to carry!”

Nice
group of friends who walked by the Harinam. I called them over to get
some Prasadam cookies and they asked me what we are doing out here. I
told them about the big Ratha yatra festival with kirtan music and a
great free vegetarian feast! They were
very nice and said that they love spirituality so I immediately told one
of the girls about the books and showed her our set but she didn't have
enough money. I told her to give $10 and to ask her friends to give the
remaining balance and her friends happily pitched in to give the extra
donation! It was sweet because they all did some devotional service and
helped her get Srila Prabhupada’s books.

was a really amazing and friendly gentleman. When I stopped him he told
me that he hasn’t seen us in the streets for a long time. He remembered
seeing us years ago when he was much younger dancing and chanting in
the streets of Philadelphia and he
always wondered what the Hare Krishnas were all about? I showed him our
“Sapta” set and asked him to please take the books, read them and apply
the knowledge in his life. He was happy to give us a donation. I also
told him about the Ratha Yatra festival and gave him an invitation.

When
I saw him I told him that he looked very intelligent so he stopped and
said hello. He asked me what we were chanting so I began
explaining the meaning of the Hare Krishna Maha mantra and showing him
the books. I could see that he was
interested so I showed him our set. He gave a generous donation and I told
him I'm surprised a young kid like him could pay for these many books!
He then told me he grew up in New Jersey but his family is actually from
India and they really respect the Hare Krishnas so he wanted to support
our efforts by giving generously.

Our
friend Bhakta Shaun brought his two daughters Santana and Scarlett with
him to the Harinam and they both started a friendly competition for who
can distribute the bigger amount of Ratha Yatra flyer invitations.
This nice young
lady was walking by and one of the daughters gave her a flyer then I
went up to talk to her. I asked her if she’s into yoga and meditation.
She told me that she’s on her way to a yoga class and she’s been
practicing yoga for the past 10 years. I showed her our set and told her
If she reads these yoga scriptures from Indian she will become a real
yoga master! She was very friendly and was inspired to get the whole set
of Srila Prabhupada’s books!

from Philly was very curious what we were doing since he has never seen
us before. I told him we are the Hare Krishna movement and it’s about
realizing our eternal relationship with Krishna so he asked me to
explain some more. I told him that we
are the not the body we are eternal spirit souls parts of God Krishna.
He appreciated my straightforwardness and after I showed him our set he
took it and told me that he’s eager to learn more about the philosophy. I

Kalki
prabhu stopped her at the book table and spoke with her for a little
bit then I walked up and Kalki told me that she was born in New
Vrindavan and I said: “Wow that’s amazing!” She told us that her parents
named her Ramanreti but she later
officially and legally changed her name to Rebecca! She told me that her
mother died last year and she went to throw her ashes in common wealth
pier just last week which unknowingly to her happened to be the
anniversary day of when Srila Prabhupada arrived in the United States
over 50 years ago! She was happy to see that we were out here in
Philadelphia having kirtan and distributing books so I was inspired to
show her a “Srimad Bhagavatam” set which we had on display at the book
table. I explained how my Gurumaharaja HH Bhakti Vikas swami instructed
me to distribute Bhagavatam sets in the streets and how it would
revolutionize book distribution! She immediately agreed and purchased
the set from us. We invited her to the Ratha Yatra festival tomorrow and
we also gave her an invitation card to the temple.

We just arrived in Philadelphia and set up the Harinam party in the downtown area.
This
nice young lady from Miami was walking by and I stopped her. I told her
she looks very peaceful and asked her what’s her secret? She told
me that she’s been practicing yoga for a few years and it helps her
remain focused and calm. I told her that it’s so inspiring to meet
spiritual people like her. I said that I have something special for her
and I showed her our “Sapta” set then explained how Albert Einstein
along with many other great minds have read this ancient spiritual
knowledge from India. I told her that she’s a spiritual being but she’s
now stuck in the material world and if she takes the books she would go
to spiritual world and be with Krishna, the greatest spiritual Person.
She was very excited to start reading the books and gave such a big
donation that I also offered her the “Prabhupada Lilamrita” as an extra
gift.

These
two nice ladies came up to the book table to see what books we were
offering! One of them is from Boston and the other from Philly! I showed
them some of our books and then showed them a “Sapta” set. I explained
to them about the Bhagavad Gita and some
Krishna consciousness philosophy about how we are spiritual beings in
the material world and how by getting the books they will be able to
realize that spiritual reality. They like reading spiritual books and
both felt so happy listening to the kirtan and checking out the books.
They gave such a big donation that I gave them two sets together instead
of one, a “Sapta” and a “Prabhupada Lilamrita!” I also invited them to
the Ratha Yatra festival and they said they’re going to definitely go.

I
was almost at the ashram and was about to make the turn into our block
when I saw this lady talking on her phone and pacing back and forth at
the corner.
I walked up to her and asked her if she’s a spiritual person or if
she likes yoga or meditation but she told me that she’s not into any of
that so I was a little discouraged. Then Krishna gave me the
intelligence to ask her if she likes to read and her whole mood changed.
She became very enthusiastic and said she really loves reading. I only
had one “Sapta” set on me so I just put it in her hands and told her
that she seems like the perfect person to get the books. I explained to
her that I’m a monk and I distribute these books of ancient spiritual
knowledge from India daily. I told her that these are books on self
realization that help us reconnect with our eternal relationship with
Krishna. She could tell that I was sincere and happily offered me a nice
donation for the set.

She
was sitting in the park reading a book not too far from the Harinam
party. I asked her if she likes to read a lot and she told me it’s her
favorite thing to do. She told me that she considers herself to be a
spiritual person so I showed her our set
and explained that these are very rare spiritual books from India.
While she was looking at the books I told her about many of the great
minds who have read the Vedas like Albert Einstein, Henry David Thoreau,
Emerson, Gandhi and many others. She told me that she just graduated
and wants to spend more time reading. I told her that we offer these 7

real spiritual happiness and relief.

She’s
visiting him from Canada and he’s been living in Brooklyn for most of
his life. I said “Hare Krishna” to both of them when I saw them walking
by the Harinam.
Her name is Farhana, she’s originally from Bangladesh so I spoke
to her in Bengali a little bit. I showed her our set but she told me
she already has most of the books. So I told her ok then he should get
the books and she agreed with me and started preaching to him about
getting the books with a lot of enthusiasm. He said he could only give
$20 but I told him we usually get $50 then she looked at him and told
him he should give the full donation which he did!

Zach, super friendly cool guy.
He
stopped by our book table at our hemp fest booth and started talking to
Bhakta Shaun. He told him that he already has a copy of the “Science of
self realization” and he loved reading it. I noticed
that he was ready to get some more books so I showed him the “Srimad
Bhagavatam” set. I explained how the “Srimad-Bhagavatam is the summum
bonum of life, Lord Shri Krishna personified.” I was telling him that my
Guru HH Bhakti Vikas swami told me if I can distribute these Bhagavatam
sets in the streets it will revolutionize book distribution and it will
make the whole world happy. So I asked him: “Zach, are you ready to
make the whole happy my friend?”
He was inspired to take
the set which I will ship to his house. It’s amazing he came to the
hemp fest to get high and got the real spiritual high!

was telling Krishna prasad prabhu about this new line I’ve been wanting
to use so when this nice lady walked by I said: “You look so
intellectual” She immediately smiled and stopped to talk to me. She
loves to read and told me that she has a
spiritual book similar to the “Science of self realization” that I was
showing her. Then I told her that she’s actually a special person
because she likes to read spiritual books and I showed her our “Sapta”
set. I explained how we just take donations for the books and she took
our her wallet and gave $100 on the spot so I added the Lilamrita set as
an extra gift. She sat down and we taught her how to chant japa on a

stopped him because he was wearing a kurta and we had an instant
connection. He was very friendly and told me how he’s really into yoga
especially kundalini and studies regularly with Dharma Mittra.
He’s an advanced student and comes to the city from Long Island
especially to take Dharma Mittra’s yoga class. I showed him our set and he
was really enthusiastic. He was telling me that his mom loves these kind
of spiritual books and he would share them with her. He owns a yoga
studio in Long Island and invited us to come and do kirtan and have a
program there. I took his contact info and we will keep in touch.

Harinam. I told her that I love her vibes! She asked me how I can tell
someone’s vibe and I said that after seven years of meditating and daily
spiritual practice I can feel people’s

He’s
my cousin from my fathers side of the family and we haven’t seen each
other for seven years. He texted me and told me he will be visiting New
York for a few days so I asked him to drop by
the Harinam. He came by to see me today and I showed him our set. He
actually hasn’t seen me dressed as a devotee yet and he was surprised

Nice young lady from the Ukraine.
I
met her right when the Harinam was finishing up at Columbus circle
today. She was talking to Krishna Kripa prabhu at first then she started
talking to me. She told me that she’s been very
depressed lately because many people in her life have been cheating her
and I told her that she was actually right. I was telling her that it’s
the material world and it’s a place of the cheaters and the cheated,
also it’s full of suffering and our actions create bondage. She asked me
about the books so I showed her our set.
She was
actually quite spiritual and she’s open to learning about different
religions and spiritual beliefs. I told her everything she wants to know
about religion is in these books. I went on to explain that the books
kick out all cheating religion and they will teach her how to experience
spiritual happiness.

nice lady from Spain. She moved to New York City two years ago to
become a Spanish teacher. She was just walking by and I saw her then she
smiled. She was friendly especially when I spoke to her in Spanish.
I was telling
her that these books give real education since she’s a teacher she can
teach them to her students and also get the spiritual benefit. When I
put the books in a bag for her to carry she said oh wow man this is
heavy and I said it’s a good work out. She asked me how often we’re out
here chanting because she wants to come and join us again soon. She

I
was praying to do another set before we finish up the Harinam for the
day and I noticed that she was standing close by. I went up to her and
she told me it’s amazing that I came up to her because she
was just having a conversation with a friend of hers about Goddess
Kali. Even though she’s Indian she doesn’t really know much about the
spiritual culture and asked me to tell her about Kali.
I
explained that she’s the material energy of Krishna and she’s often
referred to as Shakti and her followers are called Shaktas. I showed her
our set and told her everything is clearly explained about the material
and spiritual energies especially in the Bhagavad Gita.

had a strong desire to do a set because I hadn’t distributed one and it
was close to the end of the Harinam. I was praying to Krishna for a
favorable person.
A few moments later this nice gentleman walked by and I told him
he has a nice beard! I complimented him on his nice bead bracelets too
and told him that he must meditate a lot. He explained how he tries to
meditate whenever he can because life in New York City is so fast paced
and hectic. I showed him our set and told him that these books will
teach him how to do proper meditation and become expert at it. He was a
very nice friendly person and took out his wallet and gave a nice
donation for the set!

told her she looks like a really spiritual person. She’s trying to get
into meditation and loves doing yoga! She told me that she’s been
getting into a healthier lifestyle to help her get off some medications.

She’s
Jewish but she believes in reincarnation and even told me the story of
how she thinks her dog became a bird in his next life. She said a bird
comes every day in her garden and sits in the same place where her dog
used to sit! She also told me how when she was young her father was
dying in the hospital and a thousand lady bugs gathered outside his
window then when he died they all flew away! A few years later during
her wedding a lady bug landed on her hand as she was making her vows and
she considers that it was a sign her father was giving his blessings
for her marriage!
She asked me to please show her how to meditate so I taught her how to chant the Hare Krishna Maha mantra.

here in Union square park as a volunteer for a non profit campaign that
helps building communities and affordable housing for struggling
families. She really likes politics but for now she’s training to become
a nurse. I showed her our set and explained that these are ancient

She’s
an initiated devotee in the Gaudiya Math. She saw the Harinam party
then right away ran up to me and told me that she just returned from
Mayapur Dhama where she spent some time on a Yatra
with a group of devotees. She’s just passing through New York for a few
days then going back to L.A. She told me that she has all the books but

the Harinam was finished we were packing up and I saw this nice
gentleman walking by with a box in his hands and I asked him what’s in
the box? He looked at me and told me there was nothing in the box, it’s
empty! He was explaining how he’s an
artist and got the box to paint on it. I told him that he sounds like a
creative guy and showed him our set. I told him that these books are
about the black God who’s also the most creative artist of all the
artists combined. He was in a good mood and was interested in reading
spiritual books so he took the set and gave a nice donation.

saw this young lady looking curiously at the Harinam party so I went up
to her and asked her if she meditates. She told me that someone
recently gave her a small book (Beyond birth and death) and she was
looking for him so she can get more
books! I think it was Gopal Champu prabhu but he’s traveling in Indian
at the moment so Kalki prabhu and I showed her our “Saptarishi” set. It
turns out she is a brilliant graduate student in psychology and really
loves reading. She gave a generous donation for the set and Kalki

Nice young lady from New Jersey.
She
walked by the Harinam and I told her that she looks so spiritual. I
asked her if she likes meditation and she told me that she wants to
learn more about spiritual things. She’s a student and
loves to read so I showed her our set and explained about the chakras
and why we have 7 books in the set for the 7 chakras. She thought that
was cool.
I also told her about the great minds who have
read the Vedas including Albert Einstein and Gandhi. She was interested
but she was looking around a lot and told me she’s expecting her
friends to meet her any minute. So I did my best to quickly ask her for a
donation before her friends distract her or worse take her away before
she gets the books. Luckily it all worked out and she was happy to take
the set home with her.

Ananda prabhu recalls:
Real
nice guy named Julien. He’s 19 years old and goes to a Jazz school here
in New York City. He moved here from Los Angeles last year. He’s
actually been appreciating the Harinam for some time whenever he goes to
take the subway from Union square he
stops and listens to the kirtan from a distance. I asked him why he
didn’t stop to talk to us sooner! He was telling me that he’s recently
getting into spiritual knowledge so I showed him our set and told him
the books have all the spiritual knowledge he will ever need. I
explained how the books expand our vision beyond the material world and
cover topics like Karma, the soul and the Supersoul. He told me that
he’s on a drug cleanse now mainly from weed and he really wants to be
more spiritual. He wants to bring some instruments and join the Harinam
for a few hours in the next few days. He wants to come visit our ashram
for the Sunday feast too.

Nice lady named Kafunia from Brooklyn.
Believe
it or not six years ago there was a spiritual African tribe that I had
met up with for a collective spiritual experience. She was like the main
shaman of the group and she was giving
me some spiritual advice. I met them through a friend of mine named
Sterling. It was an interesting experience and she gave me some useful
spiritual advice at the time. She was surprised to see me dressed as a
Hare Krishna monk and distributing books in Union square park. I was
happy to see her after all these years so I showed her our set. She gave
a generous donation for the books right away. She wants to share the
books with her friends in the group. I was glad Krishna gave me the
chance to reciprocate with her by giving her Krishna consciousness.

The mother came by the Harinam
last week but we didn’t have any Japanese books left that day. She told
me she will come back again to see us. Today she came with her entire
family and they took 3 Japanese books with them.
Japanese family receives several Japanese books from Krishna prasad prabhu! In every town and village! Jay Srila Prabhupada!

they were so determined to understand what was touching their hearts so

Really friendly couple visiting New York from London.
When
I first saw them I told the guy that he looks like Thor from the comic
books! He laughed and his girlfriend said: “yes he does look like Thor
doesn’t he!”
When they told me
they’re from London I said it definitely sounds like it, that made them
laugh. I asked them if they’re into meditation and spirituality? They
both said that they’re spiritual people in general but they want to know
more.
I asked him if he’s heard of the Chakras before
but he said no so I said that’s good it will only confuse him! I showed
them our set and told them to please take the set because everything
they need in their life is in the books. He reached into his bag to get
some money from his wallet and I asked him: “Do you have a hammer in
there?” They both laughed.
