Gopal Champu prabhu recalls:
Nice lady named Norma from Brooklyn originally of Native America descent. She saw the Harinam and noticed the donation basket sign which says “Donation Thank you Blessings!” So she came up and asked: “is this where I get the blessings?” and put some change in the basket. Then I went up to her and asked her if she’s into meditation and she told me that she likes to meditate and she’s quite a spiritual person. She said that spirituality runs in her family because they’re Cherokee Native Americans and feel connected to nature by respecting all its gifts like the sun, the moon, the wilderness like trees. I told her that there’s probably a lot of connections between India’s Vedic culture and Native American Indian culture then showed our set of books and her eyes lit up. I started to explain to her each one of the books and she particularly liked when I told her that the Srimad Bhagavatam teaches us how to distinguish between reality and illusion or the difference between spiritual and material thoughts. She very happily gave a donation and felt that she truly got some real blessings by receiving this ancient spiritual knowledge.

It’s Norma, she’s Cherokee Native American!
